In blogging branding is crucial and having a unique well-designed logo is vital for branding. It is your logo that readers will recognize and will help set your blog apart from the thousands of other blogs out there. After looking through a wide range of logo designs, I have compiled a list of 10 trends in logo design to keep in mind when getting a logo created for your blog.

Simplicity
Though not exactly a feature of a logo, that most important thing to remember is the simplicity, the simplest, most creative logo will always be the best. Nobody wants a bulky or crowded logo, just something simple, yet very effective.
Here are some examples of very simple logos that are creative and effective.

Solid Colours
A vast majority of logo designs/designers now implement a lot of solid colours into their designs rather than gradients. This gives a flat look to the logo, but when use of solid colours are used correctly will also give 3 dimensional look.
Here is an example of solid colours making a flat logo, as well as a 3d logo, as in the google talk bubble.

Rounded text
Following the current web2.0 styled designs; rounded text has become one of the most used text styles as well as a feature of the logo. Rounded text and variations are being used very often and here are some examples of rounded text in a logo design.

3d effects
Using 3d effects in logo designs will add extra realism when used in the right way.
Using various shades of a colour in the right places will create a realistic 3d effect, or creating the right gradient on a various parts of a shape will help it to jump out of the page. Some examples of 3d effects in logos:

Shadows
Adding a shadow into a logo can really help give a clear picture of what the logo portrays. Adding a shadow to a flat shape will suddenly make it appear bolder and give some depth. Here are some instances where a shadow is used in a logo.

Color transitions
Colour transitions are being used a lot, either in an icon or graphic or in the text.
Using these transitions from a certain tone of a colour to another. This feature is easy on the eyes, and can also help to portray movement.
An examples of colour transition in the text, as well as icon is shown.

Circular icon designs
I have noticed a lot of icons and graphics in logos where a circular property is used.
There are endless possibilities of creative ways to use a circle, and choosing the right one for a company will help it to become remembered. Here are some ways in which a circular icon has been used in a logo.

Gloss/Shine
Gloss and shine, very commonly used in web2.0 logo designs as well as some other styles, this adds a nice effect on the text or graphic, which adds to the overall look of the logo. If you are going to have some gloss in your logo make sure you don’t overdo it, because the effect will look out of place. Examples of some gloss/shine in logos are included.
Graphic Integrated into the text
When a graphic is integrated into the text, if done well, can look exceptional, and shows more creativity and thought. This can be achieved by replacing a letter with a symbol, or using the letters shape to add on a graphic, the possibilities are endless. Here are some great examples of this.

Unique Symbols
A lot of companies are tending to go for a unique “random” symbol for the company, rather than symbol that relates, this helps for recognition for the company. Here are some examples where a company has used a random unique symbol.
