Background Ads

Background Ads

These are the ads that take up the entire background of a website, hitting your eyes with way more colors and patterns than they can manage. A new advertising network, AdCamo, allows publishers to run these intrusive advertisements.

If you are ever thinking of running a background advertisement on your site, make it something small in the corner of the site that can be seen and can be closed, without dominating the page.

I saw a great example of these types of ads earlier today at MarketingPilgrim. I don’t know if it is still there, but it showed a little triangle in the top right corner of the page that when clicked, unveiled information about a conference the website was participating in. If you are going to use background ads, make sure that it is subtle.
