Last but definitely not least, we have sound ads, ads that just make noise without you doing anything. You open a page and wham, you are hit instantly with some annoying ad that blares through your speakers. PayPerPlay is a new ad network that serves up these ads.
Whenever I encounter these ads, I do one of two things. I either close the site right away if it is a site I am unfamiliar with, or turn off my speakers if I am familiar with the site. However, if I am familiar with a site, it is because it doesn’t run these annoying ads.
And it always seems as if these ads are on full volume so some sound comes full blast through my laptop’s speakers. Sound can enhance the user experience ….but only if the user elects to play something. If you run any audio on your site, ensure that it does not start automatically.
