Wordpress Parent Automattic Rejects $200 Million Offer?

TechCrunch is reporting that Automattic, the parent company of both the Wordpress open source script and the Wordpress.com blog hosting site has rejected a buyout offer of $200 Million. The company has raised only $1.1 Million in founding, but Wordpress, the platform we use, is one of the most popular blogging platforms available (if not the most popular).

Automattic is also the owner of Akismet, the popular spam comment killing tool, bbPress, a forum software, and Gravatar, a tool that creates an avatar that follows you from blog to blog whenever you post a comment (a recent acquisition for the company).

I guess you can make serious money with OpenSource.
