The Front Page Effect – Why I’d Rather Be on Techmeme than Digg, Mixx, etc

On Friday, I had my first Techmeme ‘headline’ and it offered the chance to compare what I refer to as “The Front Page Effect” – what happens when your website / article appears on the homepage of social news sites. Agreed….building a user base is more important tha one time traffic

Digg is USELESS for long term growth…unless you get on the homepage dozens of times

StumbleUpon is great for interaction as well

TechMeme and SU dont have widespread use of their own commenting systems so people comment on the post itself which leads to more interaction
